今年圣诞没有出去旅游,呆在家里看书看碟,文明的征程刚好看到希伯来人从兴起到国家灭亡四百多年的历史,这么一个小小的民族最后能发展出强壮有力的宗教,深刻地影响了西方世界的进程,正是不可思议。也许恰恰是因为他们始终处于颠沛流离的流亡生活,才能像风一样把种子散播到世界的各个角落吧。Netflix有一个月免费试用的服务，不知道是不是公司总部离我们家很近（在Los Gatos，大概有10英里），过了一天就收到了。要了三个：饮食男女，the Terminal，和Miss Congeniality 2。看完了the Terminal，斯皮尔伯格导演，汤姆汉克斯演出，讲了一个东欧国家的人为了完成父亲的一个心愿，坐飞机来到纽约JFK机场，不过刚下飞机，他的国家发生了叛乱，他忽然变成了没有国家的人，哪里都不能去，只能呆在机场生活，语言不通，没有钱，还要受机场人员的欺负。电影有些黑色幽默的效果，我想美国人大概打死都了解不到外国人，特别是落后国家的人想要跨进美国的土地有多难，以至于美国就像是每个人心里的一个梦想天堂。电影里扫地的印度老伯太搞笑了，我怀疑斯皮尔伯格看过星爷的电影，很无厘头。其他两部还没看，fyu要求我看一部就得跑步一次，因为最近发福的利害。
平安夜在朋友家吃火锅，做游戏度过。游戏分成两队，各有一个棋子在棋盘上，棋盘的格子类似大富翁，有不同颜色，另有一堆卡片，根据棋子所在格子的颜色看卡片上的单词，两队各出一个人画画，剩下的人猜单词，规定时间内（有个小沙漏）那队猜对就掷筛子把棋子前进相应布数，哪队先到终点为赢。我们分成男女两队，结果女队遥遥领先，最后胜出，女生在形象思维和表达能力上可能天赋较多，连到后来大家快速画小人和流程图的技术得到长足进步。
收到朋友的圣诞祝愿，简单回顾了今年的事，我们依样画葫芦，写了封类似的如下：
Dear friends,
Merry Christmas and happy new year from Fang and Guozheng! Time runs out
quickly and it's almost at the turn of a new year now.
At the beginning of this year, we exchanged wedding rings and vows at
San Francisco City Hall. That was one of the most memorable moments in
2005. Guozheng was so nervous that he kept answering "yes, yes" when he
should say "I do" to those "Do you ..." questions. Here is the link to

Then, we headed back to China in February to give a reception to our
families and friends. But we did not expect to see a crowd of 800 people
at the reception. Poor Fang had to wear (and keep changing) wedding
suits at freezing temperature and she almost caught a cold. Glad that we
two are from the same hometown and we don’t need to do it twice. Some

When we got back, we moved our home from Berkeley to San Jose so that we
can live together. Guozheng drives to Santa Cruz twice a week and Fang
goes to Berkeley once a week to meet her adviser. We like our new
apartment a lot: it is at convenient locations to shopping malls and
various stores like Fry’s, BestBuy, CompUSA, etc. The third floor also
gives us a better understanding of the Silicon Valley because we can see
mountains in three different directions. From inside, our new apartment

During the summer, we went to Lake Tahoe for a short break. It’s like a
completely different experience from the Lake Tahoe in winter: mountains
are covered with snow and crystal clear water is as blue as the sky. We
did hiking, parasailing, kayaking and horse riding, so much fun! Check

Fang is going to graduate next year and she has started looking for
jobs. Guozheng will finish his study next fall and start job hunting. We
will have to say good bye to student life soon.
